Nana’s Sunday roast, mum’s cheese quiche, dad’s home brew…there just aint nothing like the homegrown good life. My roots are down amongst the hollering Aussie rules footy fans, sprawling vineyards, green label ales and big white pointers. Down down down, in Adelaide, South Australia.
Us radelaide folk also get to grow up hopping from one live venue to the next, indulging our ears with some of Australia’s best musicians and bands. City Riots are nothing short of world class, another SA prodigy claiming their groove around the globe.
From the release of their debut single ‘Burning Me Out’ from their EP Socialize in 2008, these four lads from Adelaide have already met many young museo’s dreams of nation-wide radio airplay, recording in the USA with acclaimed producer Bjorn Thorsrud (client list includes The Smashing Pumpkins and The Dandy Warhols), international gigs, extensive touring and a spot opening for The Smashing Pumpkins on their Australia tour.
Holding off from releasing their debut album, the boys regrouped after a full schedule in 2010, having recently released a new EP ‘Matchsticks’ and single of the same name.
The video clip featured here adds to their homegrown vibe. After discovering old Super-8 film in their parent’s house, the guys put together the ‘Matchsticks’ film clip using this vintage film stock. The result, a refreshing indie-pop video that delves into the psyche that is City Riots’.
Enjoy the vid!
